CREST for Go4SET and EES teams

Information for Go4SET/Industrial Cadets Teams

It's worth linking your Go4SET project with a CREST award for several reasons.

  • It's a way of having the work you're doing accredited nationally: a CREST Silver Award is a significant achievement.  You've done the hard part by completing the challenge.
  • It provides evidence of your problem-solving skills and makes a very positive statement about your abilities as a potential engineer.
  • It can form part of your Progress File and can help with your university or employment applications - CREST Awards  is the only STEM scheme endorsed for use in the personal statement on your UCAS form.

How to help your team:

  • Return the registration form and payment (or request invoice) as soon as possible.
  • Include CREST in the planning from the outset to avoid last minute panic
  • Each student needs to write a short personal appendix about their own Go4SET experience (the personal reflective element of the project)
  • Each team (just one copy per team) needs to fill a CREST Checklist referencing where in the project each element of the CREST award can be found.   You can reference page numbers (e.g. P3), sections of your project (e.g. See discussion section and project model) or parts of the process (e.g. We communicated our project by report and by model and display at the CAD).
  • If you have registered for CREST, TechFest can download completed projects, checklist and personal appendices from the EDT drop box (no need to email additional copies)
  • We regret that we cannot assess project at the CAD unless we have registration, CREST checklist, project with personal appendices 1 week prior to the CAD.

Lesley Weston, CREST Coordinator for Scotland, is happy to answer any questions or queries by email at lesleyweston@techfest.org.uk or telephone on 01224 274188.
